Summertime Baked Beans

I was feeling in the Summer mood a few weeks ago and I had some Roasted Garlic infused brats that I got from Publix. I decided to make some potato salad and these beans to go with them! They were so delish! Here's the recipe.

5-7 slices of Applewood smoked bacon, chopped

1 can original baked beans

1 can brown sugar hickory baked beans

Honey

Brown sugar

1/2 red onion, diced

Minced garlic

Start by frying your bacon in a large skillet. Once your bacon is done, transfer to a paper towel lined plate. Keep your bacon grease in your skillet and sauté your onions in the bacon grease until softened. Add in some minced garlic and cook another minute or so. Add in your baked beans and warm through.

Unfortunately, I did not measure this next part.... Add in some of your brown sugar and honey. Add a little at a time and taste your beans. My family and I like them sweet, so I added a decent amount of brown sugar and honey. Adjust and taste to your liking.

Add in your bacon when you've reached your desired sweetness and serve! These were a big hit and are great for a BBQ!

Chop up your bacon and fry it in a large skillet and when its done, drain on a plate lined with a paper towel. Keep your bacon grease in the pan.

Then sauté your onion in the bacon grease until softened. Add in your minced garlic and then cook 1 more minute.

Add your beans to the pan and warm through. Add in some of your brown sugar and honey.

Once they are sweetened/seasoned to you liking, add in your bacon and mix in and heat through. So much yum!
